A Piece Of GUCCI-History

This 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was originally built for the European market and first delivered new in Rome to Vasco Gucci, a distinguished member of the world-famous Gucci family. Following Gucci’s relocation to Florida, the car eventually found its way into a well-curated private collection in Germany, where it was carefully maintained and preserved. In 2024, it was acquired by the current seller and subsequently imported to the United States. The sale and import process were carried out in close cooperation with our long-standing and trusted partner, Michael’s Motorcars, based in New Jersey, ensuring a smooth, professional, and seamless transaction from start to finish.

Between 2021 and 2024, the car underwent an extensive refurbishment, which included a full repaint by TURAH in Vienna, restoration of the Cognac leather interior, and a new clutch installation. Power comes from a 2.8-liter M130 inline-six engine producing 180 horsepower and 193 lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Highlights include a blue soft top, a removable hardtop in body color, 14″ steel wheels, power steering, and four-wheel disc brakes. The odometer reads approximately 27,000 kilometers (~16,000 miles). The sale includes the original owner’s manual, a service documentation binder, two sets of keys, a Gucci-branded bag, and a clean New Jersey title.

Designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq, the W113 SL is a celebrated icon. This example was refinished in its original Metallic Blue (387H) in 2024 by TURAH to address minor paint imperfections. Exterior details include European-spec headlights, a driver’s side mirror, and a retractable antenna, alongside its matching hardtop and blue convertible roof.
