TURAH 1961 190SL achieves $223,000 Sale

Another Icon found its new home
We at TURAH are proud to announce the sale of our first Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Base Model. We have just sold a fully restored 1961 Mercedes-Benz W121 190 SL for $223,000 at a U.S. auction on Bring a Trailer—one of the highest prices ever achieved for a 190 SL in the United States. This landmark transaction underscores the exceptional value we create through our meticulous frame-off restorations and bespoke craftsmanship.
The W121 190SL
Originally introduced in 1955, the 190 SL roadster combined graceful styling with an open-top touring spirit. Our interpretation shines in gleaming silver metallic with a custom black leather interior, the result of a complete frame-off restoration. We overhauled the original 1.9-liter inline-four engine, four-speed manual transmission, and suspension using precision-machined components to deliver like-new performance and reliability.
We uphold uncompromising standards: every stitch of our hand-stitched upholstery, every piece of German walnut wood trim, and our discreet premium audio system with Bluetooth are installed to enhance comfort without compromising authenticity. Our multi-stage paint process—applied and polished by hand—yields unmatched depth and clarity. We verify each panel gap, stitch line, and mechanical tune-up against strict quality benchmarks, ensuring the vehicle functions as both a driver’s car and a showpiece.
“The 190 SL represents the soul of classic motoring,” said Lukas Voelkerer, Founder & CEO of TURAH. “This sale not only highlights the enduring appeal of Mercedes-Benz’s design but also confirms the investment potential of a TURAH restoration.”
